DUBAI – Samsung has launched its new smart cameras NXP300 and 250F at the recent Samsung Forum in Dubai. With its introduction, Samsung plans to achieve success by exceeding customer expectations and exceeding competitors' ability of photo sharing and image quality proficiency.
In an exclusive interview with the Saudi Gazette, Mohammad AlBadawi, a Samsung speaker at the forum, said: “Samsung is always shaking up the space when it comes to launching new products. We will be expecting outstanding products this year like the NXP300. We will be launching and expanding our camera model with enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity and superior image equipment. The NXP300 will be one of the flagship models.”
He said whenever Samsung launches a new model they consider the pillars. “It should be the only, the first and the most unique.” He added “we will be delivering our expertise in the imaging products and delivering high quality images that exceeds customers expectations and over exceed competitors - in terms of imaging quality and sharing capabilities. The NXP300 will be available in the market in the second quarter this year with 250F simultaneously.
Provided it's connected to Wi-Fi, the Galaxy Camera can upload photos directly to social networks, email the snaps to contacts, and back the photos up instantly to cloud storage.
He said the pricing strategy is such that it will be targeting consumers in the “mid and high price range.” AlBadawi said consumers would be able to afford the product as it gives them “value for money” due to the unique advantages of the product. He said the advantage of the smart camera is that users can pair it with different devices, which is what makes them star products and has the ability to be used with SIM cards just like a phone. Photo sharing, Wi-Fi connectivity are vital facets of the smart camera, with HD utilizing unique technology along with 3D and 2D live streaming.
“In 2012 we had launched the first of its kind, the Galaxy camera, which actually delivers on 3G and LTE connectivity. When you consider the Samsung product portfolio, we are experts in IT, telecommunications sector and optics as well. If you compare competitors in similar products, you will notice they only specialize in optics. This has given us the edge to be ahead of the competition all the time.”
In terms of applications, he said, they focus on Samsung Galaxy camera in particular, what makes it unique is the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software that opens up the device for applications for photo sharing and for photo editing and much more. We have brought more expertise from across Samsung's portfolio converging our mobile experience. We have created new Samsung camera apps, with these apps you can capture photos from the camera that will automatically be saved and sent to your smart phone for viewing, editing and sharing.”
Smart phones can also be controlled remotely. “You can control the zoom and trigger the shutter from across the room by using your smart phone as a remote control. This is because of the development of remote view finder and auto share function which Samsung has utilized from the mobile business,” AlBadawi said.
He further said the launch of the new 3D and 2D convertible lens enables consumers to capture high quality videos, which is different than Samsung competitors.
“Samsung will lead a new era of mobile photography utilizing all sophisticated photography application including Instagram, Facebook and other social networks which will help professional photographers to be connected to social networks at all times.” He said Samsung is looking to “sell more” as the market for cameras is shrinking due to smartphones.
The new feature in Samsung smart cameras called ‘Live streaming' will help people interact and share videos on their computers, laptops and smart phones “simultaneously as they are recording.”
He said advancement of the sensor in cameras delivers higher quality than small sensors in smart phones, giving it more viability.
