JEDDAH – Twelve writers gathered at the largest group book signing ceremony Thursday. The ceremony witnessed over 600 visitors including prominent cultural figures, diplomats and media. The owner of Dar Al Ramak Publishing House, an organizer of the event and a poet, Ibrahim Jerifani, was also there signing one of the poetry books “Qurrat Ain.” Other writers of the event included Ibrahim Jerifani, Al Batool Al Dabbagh, Elham Bakr, Hani Al Madany, Saad Al Ghuribi, Etr Al Haky, Dr. Jamal Rafah, Salman Al Shabib, Rana Al Maddah, Nadia Al Rais, Basma Syoffi and Elham Al Jaafar. Abdul Aziz Hamza, founder and owner of Sibawayh online Publishing House, expressed his pleasure to participate in this big cultural gathering and said that majority of the events' writers publish their books in Sibawayh, and now the rest of them will do after this event. Lots of female writers were also present at the event with their books, and some of them like Nadia Al Rais and Etr Al Haky were very excited to show off their first publication . Louis Blin, Consul General of France, said: “We, in the consulate general of France are interested in Saudi and Jeddah culture and are keen to attend cultural events. We would also like people to know about the French culture and spread both the cultures.” “Saudi women's presence in culture is notable and we can see women's works and participation in different fields of like plastic art, cinema, among others,” added.
