RIYADH — Over 500 Saudi tweeters are expected to meet at Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh on Monday at the first Saudi tweeters' forum. The event is organized by an initiative of the Riyadh-based Prince Muhammad Bin Salman Philanthropist Foundation. A source at the organizing team told Saudi Gazette that the aim of the forum was to act as a venue for an annual interactive event that attracts the best young Saudi tweeters to discuss the most pressing issues related to tweeting as well as the country's development. The source expected that the majority of attendees will be young Saudi tweeters of both sexes who will have the opportunity to listen and interact with top tweeting experts and e-business leaders. Based on a French study published in July 2012, Saudi tweeters stood at 2.9 million and the growth rate was 93 percent. The majority of Saudi tweeters are based in Riyadh, making it among the top tweeting cities of the world. The forum will tackle a host of topics, including Twitter as a commercial platform, how media people can benefit from Twitter, self and legal censorship of tweets, and making and disseminating ideas on Twitter. Stand-up comedy skits by Saudi comedians will be presented during the sessions.
