RIYADH — At least 45 inmates of Riyadh's Al-Malaz Prison were injured on Friday after they fought inside their cells, Al-Hayat daily reported on Saturday. The fight followed an exchange of words between Saudi and Ethiopian prisoners. The spokesman for the General Directorate of Prisons, Col. Ayoub Naheet, told Al-Hayat daily that some of the injured were referred to the Security Forces Hospital while the others were treated inside the prisons. An investigation was launched and a report will be sent to the higher authorities. The spokesman said the inmates involved in the fight will be confined to solitary cells to ensure that they do not fight again. Nine ambulances were called to transport the injured prisoners to hospital. — SG
