Maha Al-Badrani Okaz/Saudi Gazette MADINAH — When some people find out they have cancer, they might not hold on to life with their strength and give up on any medical treatment. However, there are some others who know how to turn their life, after being diagnosed, into one full of hope and power to fight cancer. Amna Al-Harbi is one of those people who survived cancer and never lost faith in the power of Allah. She even became a dawa activist in Madinah and went around calling on people with cancer to be strong, patient and have faith. “When I was diagnosed with cancer, I didn't cry or feel grief-stricken. I just went to the Prophet's Mosque and performed voluntary prayer inside Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah and asked Allah to give me strength to fight this disease.” Al-Harbi kept telling herself that this disease would make her a strong believer and closer to Allah. She accepted her fate and decided to live with it. Throughout the period Al-Harbi was undergoing medical treatment, she had one strong belief — Allah is the Only Healer. Despite her excruciating pain during chemotherapy sessions, her will never faltered and her morale stayed as strong. She says when she was in Riyadh for treatment, she met some women with the same condition who were frightened to death and utterly broken inside. She started to tell them about her story and how a cancer patient should be patient and have a strong belief in Allah. Al-Harbi was trying to boost their morale and she succeeded. After her treatment was completed, Al-Harbi joined a local dawa center in Madinah and started talking to cancer patients about her experience with this disease. “I always tell cancer patients that for every disease there is a cure. They shouldn't give up on that and should be patient above all.”
