JEDDAH — Three municipal employees, tasked with combating the dengue-carrying mosquitoes suffered facial burns when a spray canister exploded in their faces in Al-Samer neighborhood. They were taken to King Fahd Hospital, with second and third degrees burns. The father of one of the victims said their conditions have stabilized. He said his son had told him that there were previous incidents with the equipment but they managed to overcome them. They are not trained nor equipped to deal with such accidents. Spokesman for Jeddah Municipality Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Nahari said the explosion was caused due to heat. He added that safety equipment is provided to employees and they are provided with all necessary training.
