The Municipality in Makkah has apologized to the local Education Administration for the “lack of facilities” preventing it from spraying schools with pesticides to combat dengue fever, a situation which has led to school principals being tasked with job. The Education Administration turned to the municipality after registering several instances of dengue fever in Makkah schools, but when the municipality said its current facilities were not sufficient, the administration assigned school principals to do the task. The principals have voiced their complaints about the situation, and say that the hand-held sprays with which they have been equipped are not capable of killing all the mosquitoes in the school playgrounds.
