Sultan Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette JUBAIL — The Royal Commission for Jubail in collaboration with the Saudi Petrochemicals Company (SADAF) recently unveiled a cleanliness initiative along Abu Ali island beach with the participation of a number of volunteers from Royal Commission elementary schools. The program started with messages from the organizers encouraging everyone to preserve the environment. Abdullah Al-Muhammadi, the commission's social committee chairman, said: “This campaign is a part of Jubail Volunteer Club's (JVC) ‘Green Life' project, which seeks to develop environmental awareness in the community and urge cooperation among all residents and nature lovers. “We aim to get all concerned citizens to help, support and contribute in creating a waste-free Jubail Industrial City.” Volunteers began their work by collecting garbage left by users and visitors along the shore before picking up litter dumped from small boats or sea vehicles. They then transferred the waste to waiting garbage trucks, which transported the waste to landfill sites. At the end of the program, gifts were distributed to all volunteers while certificates of appreciation were presented to the Royal Commission and representatives of its social services and sanitation departments as well as delegates from the participating schools.
