MANILA — Filipino teen actress Jane Oineza has been nominated for best performance by an actress at the prestigious 2013 New York Festivals (NYF) World's Best Television and Film. Oineza earned her nomination for her role in a controversial episode of the drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK)," where she played a young girl who was raped by her stepfather in front of her own mother. Oineza told ABS-CBN television that she was grateful to have been given the chance to play the lead role in the MMK episode titled "Manika (Doll)." "It was MMK that gave me a big break. It was my first lead role and I really gave my best when I did the episode. It's really a huge honor to be part of MMK," she said. "We all know that each of its episode has a heart and has a lesson to be learned. Each of its tale is really well-crafted." Other ABS-CBN programs, including the hit romantic series "Be Careful With My Heart" and the Gerald Anderson teleserye "Budoy," are also finalists in the awards, which will be held in Las Vegas in April. — SG
