Saeed Al Khotani Saudi Gazette RIYADH — “Good relations with India does not mean compromising on Kashmir,” Pakistan Ambassador Mohammad Naeem Khan said here at the weekend while marking Kashmir Solidarity Day. Addressing a large gathering of Pakistani and Kashmiri community members, Khan stressed that Kashmir is the oldest issue on UN agenda. He said the intensive Indian security forces presence in Kashmir made it a unique militarized zone in the world. “Even in Afghanistan and Iraq, military concentration is not like Kashmir,” he said. Paying homage to martyrs, he said that more than hundred thousand people were martyred in Kashmir and emphasized that Kashmir is very important for Pakistan and Pakistan will do its utmost through peaceful efforts to get freedom for Kashmiris. He said Pakistan would continue its moral and political support to Kashmiris, adding that the Pakistan government efforts in this regard will focus on trying to expand Kashmir contact group to include more countries in it. The function was attended by a cross-section of Pakistani community including officials, businessmen, students, journalists and intellectuals. Dr. Yunis Molan, chairman of Kashmir Committee in World Assembly of Muslim Youth, attended the program as chief guest. Ehsan Danish, Khalid Akram Rana, Abdul Malik Mujahid, Ch. Mohammad Rafique, Qari Abdul Basit, Atiq Ahmed Raz, Fayyaz Ali Khan, Zishan Akhter and Ghulam Nabi Butt too spoke at the event. The speakers in their speeches expressed solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren. They pledged to continue support of Kashmiris until they get their right to self-determination. They appealed to the international community and UN to implement UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir and stop human right violation in Kashmir. Ahmed Hakhsh, an Arab journalist, expressed his sympathy for the Kashmiris and emphasized the need to raise the Kashmir issue on different forums. He said that Kashmiris should utilize all their available modern sources to highlight Kashmir issue at the international level. During the event, Dr. Asif Qureshi that expressed solidarity with Kashmiris, demanded international community to take notice of atrocities in Kashmir by Indian army, and asked, at the same time, India to resolve Kashmir problem according to UN resolutions, read out a resolution. Also, the resolution called on UN to implement UN Security Council resolution on Kashmir issue according to aspiration of people of Kashmir and thanking the Saudi government, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and OIC for supporting Kashmiri people stand on all international forums.
