JEDDAH – The Japanese Food Festival was inaugurated at Al Safina Restaurant, Hilton Hotel on Monday, Feb. 11 at 07:30 pm. The occasion was attended by the Consul General of Japan who led the ribbon-cutting ceremony and several prominent personalities from Jeddah. Prior to cutting the ribbon and launching the food fest, Jun Yoshida, the Japanese Consul general, welcomed all attendees and stated: “I would like to congratulate Jeddah Hilton in advance on the great success of Japanese Food Festival starting from tonight through Feb. 15. “I welcome a lot of Jeddawis including prominent dignitaries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industries and Diplomatic Corps. Such a big gathering is a proof of a prospective great success. “I'm very happy that we, the Japanese Consulate-General could make a very slight contribution for this wonderful event which must lead to a further spread of Japanese food culture in Jeddah. I sincerely hope that, in the very near future, the Japanese Food will be registered on the World Heritage of UNESCO.” The food festival will be held until the end of the week, and features traditional Japanese dishes exclusively prepared by three Japanese chefs. – SG
