QATIF — A man has been ordered by the Eastern Province Court of Appeals to pay back SR142,000 that he borrowed from his ex-wife, Al-Youm newspaper reported. The defendant was ordered to pay back the sum by Qatif Public Court. His subsequent appeal at the Court of Appeals was rejected. His ex-wife filed a lawsuit against him to claim back the borrowed money, which was given to the defendant in cash. The defendant denied borrowing the money but confirmed his signature on a document presented to the court by the plaintiff. The defendant later admitted to receiving a sum of SR16,000 as a gift from his former wife. The plaintiff denied the defendant's claim and swore an oath before the court, presenting evidence and statements. The court found the defendant guilty as charged and ordered the sum to be paid back to the plaintiff.
