A lawyer defending the governor of Hinakiyyah in Madina region pleaded not guilty for his client Saturday in a case filed against the governor accusing him of imprisoning a man with no court's order. During the first session, the lawyer demanded the case be dismissed, but the judge fixed Feb. 17 as a new date of hearing in which the plaintiff has to show up in court to present his case. The plaintiff has been required to present proof that he was brought manacled, at the order of the governor, to the police station from his house at Al-Domairiyyah Rural Center. The plaintiff's lawsuit said the investigation with him at the police station continued with releasing him from his chains. The man was arrested and investigated over a farm well dispute with another man. In a similar case in Khaibar governorate in Madina region last November, the Khaibar governor was ordered by court to pay SR14,000 in a compensation case filed by a citizen.
