MADINAH — The Saher automatic monitoring of traffic signals is hindering rescue vehicles. Drivers at traffic signals will not give way to rescue vehicles, as Saher cameras would mistakenly assume that they have run the traffic signal. It is a SR900 fine. This creates problems for the concerned authorities, as they are unable to attend to urgent situations in time. Madinah police chief, Brig. Mohammad Al-Shanbari, said that cars at traffic signals should move and give way to rescue vehicles. Those who are captured on Saher cameras can object to the violation on the traffic police website. They may also visit the police department with details of the incident so the police will verify it. The director for safety at Madinah police said there will be a solution to this problem soon. The director of Madinah Civil Defense said there is ongoing coordination with the traffic police to deal with this issue.
