JEDDAH — The public health department in Jeddah has begun field visits to charity homes for the elderly. In a humanitarian gesture, Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishal Bin Majed instructed Jeddah Health Affairs to provide the necessary medical care to these elderly patients. Nine medical teams were formed to visit the 62 elderly homes, occupied by more than 800 inmates. The field teams will prepare medical files for follow-up by health centers. Mohammad Al-Qazli, head of social services at Jeddah's public health department, said necessary medication would be provided. These visits will continue periodically and all cases that need follow up will be referred to health centers or hospitals. Occupants of these homes expressed happiness over these visits. More than 70 percent of them cannot care for themselves and certainly need assistance, Al-Qazli claimed. They were an important part of society who are currently in need of assistance, he said.
