TABUK — Following the heavy rains and flooding that hit Tabuk region recently, many young men have risen to the occasion and volunteered to help affected families. The volunteer drive started on Twitter by a group of young men who formed several teams to help distribute aid and search for people trapped in villages. One of the team members said he has always wanted to do volunteer work but unfortunately Tabuk society does not have many volunteer activities. Abdul Aziz Al-Balawee and his friends helped police organize traffic in Tabuk streets. “When heavy rains fell on Tabuk, my friends and I decided to volunteer. We were trained by the Tabuk Traffic Department on how to organize traffic and were sent to the streets.” Salih Al-Suhaimi, a young man who founded “We're One Family” volunteer team, said many young men decided to volunteer because they believed that it was their social responsibility. Al-Suhaimi runs a team of 100 young men and women divided into 11 groups. They mainly help in distributing aid and providing medical services, he said. A group of students from Tabuk University's medical college formed a team and called it “I'll Volunteer with the Red Crescent Authority”. The team was formed following the rains in Tabuk and their leader said the Red Crescent Authority lauded their efforts and provided them with training as well.
