Landscaping industry to cash in on GCC green development plans
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 04 - 02 - 2013

Hundreds of outdoor landscaping and gardening specialists will be out to take advantage of a new event being launched in Dubai this year, as laws in 2013 get set to revolutionize the makeup of outdoor spaces across the GCC.
The Outdoor Design Build & Supply show, to be held on March 25-27, 2013 at the Dubai World Trade Centre has attracted a high profile line-up of exhibitors involved in the creation, development and landscaping of outdoor space, with many choosing the three-day dedicated event as a platform to launch their latest products and services.
Partnered with the Dubai Municipality, the inaugural edition of Outdoor Design Build & Supply also comes as new legislation in the UAE and GCC is expected to pass in 2013, which will require a minimum of 25 percent “green space” or “outdoor landscaping” across all residential and commercial projects in the region.
Among the headline exhibitors showcasing new products at the show include the locally based Bin Sabt Sports & Leisure, which will launch a complete range of outdoor sports and leisure products.
Rohit Anand, Managing Director of Bin Sabt Sports & Leisure, said: “We have executed more than 1,000 projects in the UAE and surrounding countries and with outdoor spaces in the region continuing to grow, our participation at the Outdoor Design Build & Supply will enhance our visibility in a very niche market.
“We are aware that regional government municipalities, contractors and relevant entities will all be participating at the show, and our presence will enhance the existing relationship we have with them, whilst also demonstrating our commitment to the landscaping industry in this region.”
The UK-based Dura Composites, meanwhile, will prepare to display its brand new range of timber composite Dura Cladding at Outdoor Design Build & Supply, along with its regular portfolio of outdoor products.
The eco-friendly timber composite products are made from 87 percent recycled materials, and are the first composite product to be 100 percent certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Paul Fletcher, Key Account Manager in the Middle East for Dura Composites, said that not only are its products more eco-friendly, but are more durable than traditional hardwood and softwood products, making them perfect for the harsh outdoor desert environments in the region.
“Our full line-up of Dura Composites look and feel like natural wood, and their unique formula provides lightweight yet durable cladding or decking that will not splinter, warp, rot or fade throughout their 25 years life expectancy,” said Fletcher.
“The Outdoor Design Build & Supply show will be a perfect platform for us to demonstrate how great our products look, and how they can help transform future outdoor projects in the region.” — SG
