Mishal Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette RIYADH — Wadi Bin Hashbal police in Asir province are accused of obstructing enforcement of a court order granting a Saudi woman the custody of her son. The mother appealed to the Asir police more than two months ago to get her ex-husband to return her son who was taken away from her by force and compel him to pay alimony. She accused Wadi Bin Hashbal police of not enforcing the court order against her ex-husband because he works at the same police station. She said, “When I contacted them they asked me to go to the police station. It is very difficult for me to come to the station because I live with my parents in Riyadh and they are old people. The system granted me the custody of my child and without the need to visit the police station in person.” The mother said she sent a letter to Emir of Asir Prince Faisal Bin Khaled complaining about the police. She said her ex-husband is using his influence at the police station to override the court order. She said according to a new directive from the Justice Ministry, any individual who obstructs the enforcement of a court order will be jailed for three months.
