January 26, India's Republic Day, is a momentous day for Indians all over the world. It is a day when all Indians celebrate our status as a sovereign, democratic and republic state. Republic Day has set a milestone in India's history by giving all Indian citizens the right to exercise freedom in every sphere of their life and also teaching them to live in unity, equality and harmony amidst their vast cultural diversity. Republic Day has an added importance for it was on this day, in 1950, that the Indian Republic and its constitution came into force. On this day Dr. B. R. Ambedkar framed the written constitution of India with seven other members of the drafting committee that finally saw India become a republic nation. The patriotic fervor of the people on this day brings the whole country together even in its essential diversity. Today this emerging nation requires real patriotic acts from its young generation. India has immense reservoirs of power in the form of youth with energy, impetuousness, ambition, independence, fresh ideas and enthusiasm. In every field, be it science, education, research, technology, literature, music or filmmaking the youth plays a significant role. Youth forms the future and the hope for progress in right direction. But many of the youth are still ostentatious and self-centric. If they contribute even a meager part of this energy for the development of this nation rather than just focusing on personal careers the dream of our nation can be realized. So let us think beyond the limit and promise to be a contributor in the growth of this great nation. Mir Gazanfar Ali Zaki, Jeddah
