MUMBAI –– After a long sabbatical, Ameesha Patel is once again back on the silver screen with “Race 2.” The 37-year-old actress, who took a break from acting to set up her own production house, has a small yet an important role in the film. Patel plays actor Anil Kapoor's assistant Cherry in the film. “Cherry is a dumb blonde character. It was tough for me because to do a comedy role and that too a dumb character is always tough. If you do over-the-top acting, you can irritate the audiences,” said Patel. She added: “So it is important to identify that fine line, where not to overact and to stay subdued. But there were Anil Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan whose comic timing is great and they helped me.” “Race 2” also starring Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez and John Abraham opened on Friday to mix reviews. — SG
