JEDDAH – Municipal inspectors raided a house used as an illegal slaughterhouse at the Briman area of Jeddah after a tip-off from a neighbor. The house, which was used for slaughtering and packaging chicken, was monitored for some time. A number of people were seen coming to the house and leaving it carrying chicken. The overnight raid was led by Abdullah Al-Ajmi, head of the municipality's Briman branch. The inspectors found 12 Arabs working in filthy conditions. Large quantities of ready-to-sell chicken were confiscated from the site. The workers said they were supplying packaged chicken to supermarkets and restaurants. Al-Ajmi said the house was not licensed as a slaughterhouse, and the workers did not have the required health certificates.
