RIYADH – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah issued Tuesday Royal Decrees reconstituting the Board of Senior Ulema and the Supreme Judicial Council, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. The King also appointed a new chief justice for the Supreme Court and named a new secretary general for the Supreme Judicial Council. Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh, the Grand Mufti, will continue to hold his office as the President of the 20-member Ulema Board, while the term of office for all members will be four years effective from Jan. 18, 2013. Sheikh Ghaihab Bin Mohammed Al-Ghaihab has been appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court at the rank of minister, replacing Sheikh Abdulrahman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kulliyah, according to the Royal orders. Nine new judges have been appointed as members of the Supreme Court at the rank of Chief of the Appeals Court. Sheikh Salman Bin Mohammed Bin Nashwan has been named Secretary General of the Supreme Judicial Council at the rank of Chief of the Court of Appeals, replacing Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al-Yahya.
