Jazan — A Saudi in his 90s has told local authorities his 15-year-old wife's family has taken her to Riyadh without his permission, it was reported on Tuesday. Al-Hayat newspaper said the citizen married the teenager recently for a SR65,000 dowry. She was terrified of her husband and locked herself in a room for two days. She later managed to return to her family's house. He said that he married the young girl because his wife was 80 years old and they had been living with her sons for a long time. In his complaint to the Al-Khoobah governorate, he is also demanding the family to pay him back his dowry. Director of the National Society for Human Rights in Asir Dr. Hadi Al-Yami said this marriage is akin to human trafficking.
