RIYADH – Prince Saud Bin Abdullah Bin Thunayan, Chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, and Dr. Hashim Abdullah Yamani, President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE), signed Saturday here a memorandum of understanding and joint cooperation between the Commission and City. The aim is to create a formula for integration and partnership between the two sides so as to serve sustainable energy and provide it with the necessary services, advanced technology, research, studies and industrial partnerships that result in sustainability of energy and diversifying its sources. The projects based on the outcome of the studies will be implemented in Yanbu Al-Sinaia. In a statement to SPA, Prince Saud said “the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu is always keen to achieve integration with different sectors whether government or private. It is also keen to use its wide experience to serve development in various sectors including King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy on which we attach great hopes in diversifying the sources of energy.” Prince Saud said the commission strives to achieve everything that enhances the development and economic process in those cities. The cities belonging to the commission are considered to be a suitable environment to benefit from the sources of atomic and renewable energy. The commission strives to provide the industrial requirements by benefiting from all that is new in energy. He lauded the efforts of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy to contribute in industrial and economic development and localize technology and knowledge in all fields of development. Dr. Yamani said the signing of the MoU comes within the City's endeavor to develop comprehensive and joint economic frameworks with all national economic and industrial complexes, most important and suitable of which is the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu so as to become a basic partner in realizing the vision of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to include the sources of atomic and renewable energy within the sustainable national energy system in the Kingdom. Yamani added that the Royal Commission supervises an integrated and high standard infrastructure from the technological and organizational aspects. King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy said Yanbu industrial city will be the first nucleus for carrying out renewable energy projects in the Kingdom followed by Jubail and other industrial cities in Saudi Arabia. — SG
