JEDDAH – Malls are a great way to spread awareness among the people. In Jeddah alone, there are approximately 70 shopping centers, yet only a few of them can accommodate a large number of visitors and organize successful awareness campaigns at one time. Red Sea Mall, situated on Malek Road in the northern suburbs of Jeddah, is the largest mixed-use mall in Jeddah. With a built area of 242,200 square meters, it comprises a mall, 5-star hotel and seven-story office building, and has external and undercover parking areas all of which are linked to the 18 entrances to the mall facilitating easy access. Mohammed Alawi, CEO, Red Sea Markets Co., proprietor of Red Sea Mall, said the mall “is not limited to a shopping center, but it is a hub holding international brands ranging from a beauty department to a grocery store. The mall is also a great destination which acts as a magnet and attracts tourists and local visitors alike. The visitors find themselves surrounded by various shops offering beauty products and other luxury brands, an entertainment area and the restaurants all under one roof. It is a complex which brings all the members of the family together.” The mall is seen buzzing with new activities, events and campaigns which are hosted every other week whole year round. The activities target on health, education, raising charity funds, etc. Most of the activities hosted by the Ministry of Health are projected in this mall. The main objective of these campaigns are increasing awareness among the people and also promoting fitness in the Kingdom by emphasizing on how walking is a great way to improve ones health and prevent obesity. The mall is also open to all charitable activities which aim at raising funds for the orphanage organizations. Over the year 2012 the mall has held approximately 70 campaigns which have affected the citizens tremendously. “We are proud to hold these events and campaigns all in the premises of the mall. Some of the campaigns were hosted by Ministry of Health, Jeddah Governorate, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Commerce, The Supreme Council for Tourism and Antiquities, Ministry of Education and also the Ministry of Interior. It is reported that during the year, a total of 1 million visitors have visited these campaigns, out of which 10 percent have benefited. These awareness programs also provide the visitors with various advantages, free products and services,” Alawi further said. He added “we see ourselves as an integral part of the local community. As a national company, we are well aware of our responsibilities and are proud that Red Sea Mall was, and will always be a prime base for launching these awareness campaigns. We are committed to provide the people with a shopping environment along with a touch of education. Our fundamental objective is to create awareness among the visitors and local citizens. We are also confident that the Saudi youth will get noticed and achieve their goals and ambitions through these programs and make an effective use of it.” During 2012, more than 13 million visitors came to the mall. In the past month, the Guinness World Record team in the Middle East announced Red Sea Mall as a holder of a new record of the biggest polystyrene ship model in the world. Moreover, Red Sea Mall is committed toward strengthening the Saudi society and supporting the young Saudi men and women to express their feelings toward their nation. It also permits them to review their creativity in the arenas of art and design. “Red Sea Mall is a hub of creativity which helps the artists in sharpening their ideas. We are trying our best to support and assist these young talents and see them prosper in various fields of innovation by providing space within the vicinity of the mall,” Alawi pointed out. — SG
