JEDDAH – Police arrested a narcotics dealer after a high-speed chase ensued in the Obhur area of northern Jeddah. Col. Saad Al-Ghamdi, director of police patrols in the city, said a police officer drove up on a one-occupant vehicle, and suspected illegal activity due to the driver's suspicious behavior. The police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the motorist sped away. The suspect attempted to dodge the police for several minutes, but finally lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a villa under construction. The motorist immediately exited the vehicle carrying a black bag and ran into the villa under construction. The police patrol then called for backup, which arrived rapidly. The policemen were able to surround the suspect and arrest him. The suspect was a 28-year-old Palestinian national who did not hold any identification papers. Upon inspecting the bag he was carrying, the policemen found SR41,410 in cash, hashish weighing 561.1 grams, two hashish rolls weighing 1.2 grams and 800 narcotic pills.
