JEDDAH — A review will be carried out into the preparedness of five cleaning companies who have signed contracts worth SR1.8 billion with the Jeddah municipality to clean the city in the next five years. Deputy Mayor Abdul Majeed Al-Batati, who is supervisor of all branch municipalities in the city, will carry out the review on Wednesday. He said: “We will closely follow up the technical work of these companies to make sure that they are doing their job professionally and with complete credibility and transparency.” Al-Batati said the cleaning contracts cover the Corniche and all residential areas within the 14 branch municipalities. “The mayoralty is determined to closely monitor the work of these companies during the next five years to make sure all areas of Jeddah are kept very clean.” He warned companies that do not demonstrate high standards would have their contracts canceled.
