Petromin, the leading engine oils and greases manufacturer in the region, is the official sponsors of the 21st Gulf Cup of Nations, which will be held in Bahrain on Jan. 5-18, 2013. The agreement was signed to this effect by Eng. Samir Nawar, CEO of Petromin and Adnan Merab, West Asia Sales Manager at World Sport Group, for exclusive sponsorship, broadcasting and marketing rights for Gulf Cup 21. In addition, a number of senior employees from the two companies were present at the ceremony. Nawar expressed his pride with sponsoring and supporting Gulf Cup matches in its twenty-first round, pointing out that it stems from Petromin's commitment towards the Gulf region as a leading producer of engines oil and greases in the region. He clarified that this is the second time in a row Petromin has supported the biennial championship. “Gulf Cup spreads sportsmanship and the love of fair competition among the region's communities through the promotion of the most popular sport and pastime…football. By sponsoring the championship, we aim to support Gulf sports, in general and get closer to the youth, which constitute the majority of the population of the area, in addition to strengthening presence of Petromin in the region's markets, and spread awareness of its brand, since it is the favorite of many of the region's population,” Nawar said. The first Gulf Cup championship was held in 1970, also in Bahrain, as the result of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah Region's idea to hold a championship to gather the GCC's national teams. — SG
