JEDDAH — A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a young man whose body was found in a furnished apartment in Jeddah's Mushrifah district. Police received a report that the man had been found dead in an apartment he rented four hours before. There were traces of a struggle inside the apartment. Police inspected the crime scene and found signs of trauma to the man's head. Blood was scattered all over the crime scene. Forensics and investigation teams collected evidence and searched for a murder weapon. They found that the door was not broken, and the management had the only spare key in its possession. Investigations revealed the victim had recently been in touch with a 19-year-old Palestinian national. He was called in for questioning but denied any relation to the victim. However, the investigator told him that fingerprints were lifted from the scene and this would uncover the identity of the culprit. The suspect finally admitted that he had an argument with the victim in the apartment, police said. He told investigators that he struggled with the man and smashed his head on the wall before choking him, police said. He fled the apartment but claimed he did not know that the victim had died. Jeddah police spokesman First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq said investigations are ongoing.
