Police have referred the sensational Sitteen street murder case to the Commision for Investigation and Prosecution. The body of the 24-year-old girl killed by a 30-year-old Saudi man in an apartment in Mashrafa District alongside Siteen Street here Monday remains in Jeddah's King Fahad Hospital. Sources said further medical investigations were being conducted on the corpse. On Wednesday, the man, who had shot himself after pumping three bullets into the girl, was declared brain dead by doctors at the hospital. Police had taken him there in critical condition shortly after he shot himself. Police have told Okaz that they plan to fingerprint all the workers in the furnished apartment building. On Tuesday, investigators had sealed off the crime scene, taken fingerprints and questioned some of the occupants of the building. A source said most of the occupants had left the building in panic after the shootings. The killer had moved into the building a day before the murder, the source said, adding that the killed woman's aunt lives in the same building. According to police, the victim had known the man for years and had accompanied her cousin to his flat. The three had breakfast together before a quarrel broke out and the man shot the woman in the hall. The other woman escaped uninjured to another room and as she yelled for help from the window the killer dragged the victim into a bedroom, covered her with a blanket, pointed the gun at himself, and pulled the trigger. Police have taken into custody the cousin and the aunt. The hometown of the man, the alleged killer, was stunned to hear the news. Several people there attested to the strong moral fiber of the man as well as his family. – Okaz __
