RIYADH – The Saudi Electricity Company has signed five contracts worth a total SR1.61 billion to build power transmission lines in various regions of the Kingdom. The 380 KV high-voltage lines, with a total length of 380 km, would be built as part of the Kingdom's ambitious program to further bolster the national grid and meet the growing demand for electricity. The period of implementation of the projects is 29 months. Eng. Ali Al-Barak, CEO of the company, said that the contracts include setting up of double circuit aerial transmission lines in Allaith, Mahayil, Duba, Tabuk, Madinah and Bisha. Transmission lines would contribute to completion of the national grid through setting up of 380 KV and 132 KV double circuit transmission lines from Duba 2 plant to the Al-Madain plant and 380 KV line linking Bisha network. — SG
