DAMMAM – One man was killed when police units exchanged gunfire with rioters who were burning tires near police headquarters in Qatif. Spokesman of Eastern Province police, Lt. Col. Ziyad Al-Reqaiti, said a police patrol observed several rioters burning tires and when officers tried to arrest the rioters, they came under heavy gunfire. The suspect, who was shot in the exchange, was rushed to the hospital but died of his wounds. A gun was found in his possession while another rioter was arrested for a previous conviction in a criminal case. The incident is under investigation by concerned authorities.
