CONCORD, New Hampshire —The death toll from a powerful winter storm that pushed through the US midsection into the Northeast has risen to 9. Officials in Indiana say a man and a woman were killed when the scooter they were riding went out of control on a snowy street Wednesday and they were hit by a pickup truck. The storm was dumping snow on parts of the Northeast a day after it left a record snowfall in Arkansas and challenged holiday travel plans around the region. Despite the weather, no flights are delayed Thursday morning cities like New York, Philadelphia and Boston. The National Weather Service says the Northeast's heaviest snow accumulations will be in northern Pennsylvania, upstate New York and inland sections of several New England states. In coastal areas, the storm is mostly bringing high winds and heavy rain. — AP
