RIYADH — The Ministry of Social Affairs' protection home in Jeddah has taken on 11 women prisoners who had been rejected by their families after their release. Three have left, while eight are being rehabilitated and provided with support until they can live independently. In addition, the local Girls Education Directorate has received complaints from female students claiming they have been abused. These complaints were referred to the social protection home for further action. The complaints included being abused and deprived of education. The director of Makkah Social Affairs Abdullah Al-Tawi said an educational program was launched in schools with the cooperation of the education directorate.
