RIYADH — Deputy Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum honored Saudi Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah with the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences in Dubai on Monday night. Al-Rabeeah was honored along with 21 other winners of the award at the opening of the 7th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences on Perinatal Medicine, which ends Wednesday. The honor was in recognition of Al-Rabeeah's efforts in developing the health sector in his country and contributions in the humanitarian and medical services fields globally. Al-Rabeeah presented his book, “My Experience with Conjoined Twins”, as a memorial gift to Sheikh Hamdan. Al-Rabeeah said: “This honor was not only for me, it was also for the noble profession of medicine and all the workers in the healthcare field.” On Tuesday, Al-Rabeeah delivered a lecture on his experience in conducting conjoined twins separation operations in the Kingdom since 1990. Since 1990, the minister and his medical team reviewed 69 cases from 17 countries and performed successful surgeries on 30 of them. In the field of research, Al-Rabeeah has published more than 60 scientific papers in international medical journals and presented over 68 papers in local and regional and international conferences. He continued conducting complicated operations even after being appointed as Minister of Health by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
