Iftikhar Bahfain Okaz/Saudi Gazette JAZAN — A mother here allegedly poured scalding water on her seven-year-old son. The boy was rushed in an unconscious state to King Fahd Central Hospital in Jazan where he was provided the burn treatment, but had to have a toe amputated. The hospital questioned the mother of the family abuse, but she denied it. The child was later questioned and charged that his mother had poured hot water on his body. Spokesman for Jazan police Awadh Al-Qahtani said the police had not received any notification of the incident. Ahmad Al-Bahkali, director of the Human Rights Society in Jazan, said the society did not receive any information on the incident as well. The society will follow up with the health directorate on the incident, he added. In such cases, Al-Bahkali added, the society ensures that the child receives proper care from the social affairs body. The society also communicates with the security bodies to detain the mother for questioning.
