LONDON — Chelsea collapsed to a 3-1 Premier League defeat at West Ham United after leading at halftime Saturday to leave interim manager Rafael Benitez still waiting for his first win. Juan Mata gave Benitez's side a well-deserved lead, but the home side roared back with former Chelsea striker Carlton Cole leveling just past the hour before substitutes Mohamed Diame and Modibo Maiga struck late on. Champion Manchester City moved to top of the table, for a couple of hours at least, after Carlos Tevez earned it a 1-1 draw at home to Everton, although Manchester United can be back on top if it wins at Reading in the late game. European champion Chelsea remains in third spot with 26 points after West Bromwich Albion wasted the chance to move above it when it was beaten 1-0 at home by Stoke City. Tottenham Hotspur moved above West Brom on goal difference into fourth place following a 3-0 victory at Fulham in which Jermain Defoe scored twice. Arsenal was booed off the pitch at the Emirates as it slipped to 10th after a 2-0 home defeat by Michael Laudrup's Swansea City for whom Michu scored two late goals to take his league tally for the season to 11. Liverpool was 1-0 winner at home to Southampton and bottom club Queens Park Rangers drew 1-1 at home to Aston Villa as their search for a first league win of the season continues under new manager Harry Redknapp. EPL pays agents $123m a year England's 20 Premier League clubs paid players' agents 77 million pounds ($123 million) in one year, with Manchester City spending 14 percent of the total. The league announced Friday that the champion paid 10.5 million pounds ($16.8 million) to agents from Oct. 1, 2011, to Sept. 30, 2012, accounting for two transfer windows. The second biggest spender was Liverpool, which handed agents 8.6 million pounds ($13.8 million) but finished eighth last season and is currently 12th. Third on the list is Queens Park Rangers, which spent 6.8 million pounds ($10.9 million), but is currently winless and bottom after avoiding relegation on the last day of last season. Tottenham was fourth on the spending list on 6.6 million pounds ($10.6 million), followed by Champions League winner Chelsea on 6.5 million pounds ($10.5 million) and Arsenal on 5.6 million pounds ($8.9 million). Manchester United only gave agents 3.7 million pounds ($5.9 million) in the last year. Alex Ferguson's side just missed out on the title to City on goal difference and is now top of the league. — Agencies
