Arsenal conceded three goals in the last 10 minutes Sunday to lose 3-2 at Wigan and surrender its faint hopes of winning the Premier League title. The Gunners were winning 2-0 and on course to rebound from Wednesday's 2-1 defeat at Tottenham until midfielder Ben Watson scored in the 80th minute for Wigan. Titus Bramble then equalized in the 89th following a fumble by goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and the brittle Arsenal defense gave Charles N'Zogbia space in injury time to run across the edge of the box and hit a curling shot in at the far post. “I believe we were not focused, not disciplined and were caught,” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. “In football you have to stay focused for 90 minutes otherwise you run the risk of being punished.” Wigan's first league win over Arsenal lifted it seven points clear of the relegation zone and left the Gunners six points behind leader Chelsea with three games to play. Defending champion Manchester United is a point behind Chelsea after beating local rival Manchester City 1-0 Saturday. Arsenal now needs to win its last three games by big margins and hope Chelsea and United each win no more than one of their remaining matches. Tottenham's 2-1 victory over Chelsea had reignited Arsenal's faint title chances and the Gunners looked set to capitalize after Theo Walcott put it ahead in the 41st minute. The England winger evaded Bramble and Maynor Figueroa before slipping the ball underneath goalkeeper Chris Kirkland for his seventh goal of the season. Walcott shot over the bar just before halftime and, three minutes after the break, Mikael Silvestre headed in unmarked from Samir Nasri's free kick. Watson, who was on loan at second-tier clubs Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion earlier this season, got a goal back with a side-footed shot from 12 yards before Fabianski handed Wigan the equalizer. He caught and then dropped N'Zogbia's corner to give Bramble a free header which crossed the line before defender Gael Clichy could clear it. N'Zogbia then scored from 20 meters as Wigan followed this season's first ever wins over Liverpool and Chelsea with victory over the Gunners. Aston Villa beat relegated last-place club Portsmouth 2-1 in Sunday's other Premier League match. Midfielder Michael Brown put Pompey ahead in the 10th minute but John Carew equalized six minutes later and 19-year-old striker Nathan Delfouneso hit the winner eight minutes from the end with his first Premier League goal. American goalkeeper Brad Friedel preserved Villa's win with an instinctive close-range save from substitute Joel Ward, sticking out his right hand to keep out the ball. Villa moved up to sixth place, although it can drop back down to seventh Monday if Liverpool beats relegation-threatened West Ham. Champs matches to go ahead This week's Champions League semifinals between Inter Milan and Barcelona and Bayern Munich and Olympique Lyon will go ahead despite the disruption to European air travel caused by the volcanic ash cloud, UEFA said. UEFA told Reuters Sunday that their travel department and other officials had been in close contact with all four clubs and that there was no problems with the traveling teams reaching their destinations. Inter Milan is at home to European champion Barcelona Tuesday with Bayern Munich at home against Lyon Wednesday. - Agencies Premier League table P W D L F A Pts 1 Chelsea 35 24 5 6 86 32 77 2 Man United 35 24 4 7 78 27 76 3 Arsenal 35 22 5 8 78 39 71 4 Tottenham 34 19 7 8 62 34 64 5 Manchester City 34 17 11 6 69 42 62 6 Aston Villa 34 15 13 6 48 35 58 7 Liverpool 34 16 8 10 54 33 56 8 Everton 35 14 12 9 57 48 54 9 Birmingham City 35 12 11 12 35 43 47 10 Fulham 34 11 10 13 35 37 43 11 Stoke City 34 10 13 11 33 37 43 12 Blackburn 35 11 10 14 37 53 43 13 Sunderland 35 10 11 14 46 53 41 14 Bolton 35 9 8 18 38 63 35 15 Wigan Athletic 35 9 8 18 33 66 35 16 Wolverhampton 35 8 10 17 28 51 34 17 West Ham 34 7 10 17 41 57 31 18 Hull City 34 6 10 18 32 70 28 19 Burnley 35 7 6 22 37 74 27 20 Portsmouth 35 6 6 23 29 62 15 __
