As part of the Pakistan Independence Day celebrations the Pakistani flag was raised at the Pakistan Consulate General in Jeddah and the Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh commemorating 62nd Independence Day. Pakistan Ambassador, Retd. Adm. Shahid Karimullah, unfurled the national flag held in the Chancery in Riyadh. Messages from the President and Prime Minister were read to the public in attendance. The ambassador said the new democratic government will steer Pakistan out of the present crises and will lead the country on the road to progress and prosperity with steady economic development. Karimullah thanked Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan who have helped Pakistan in all odds and nourished the fraternal ties that exist between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Zaigham Uddin Azam, Consul General of Jeddah, unfurled the national flag at the Consul General residence in Jeddah and said the Pakistani people should ignore linguistic, regional, and sectarian differences and work together to make Pakistan stronger. Ameer Mohammad Khan Chairperson of Pakistan Journalist Forum said they have arranged screening of the Quaide Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah film, at the Pakistan International School-English Section (PISES) on Thursday. Several Pakistani singers will attend the event at the PISES such as Saleem Javed and Hasan Jahangir, as well as musician Imran Sajan. The artists will perform national songs as part of the entertainment. On Thursday night a joint celebration of both the Pakistan and Indian independence days was organized at the Safary Hotel, said one of the organizers Imran Qureshi. __
