Ronaldo Z. Concha Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is inviting Filipino workers in Jeddah and surrounding areas to participate in a special project this Christmas season to raise awareness about employees who have not seen their families for a long time. OWWA Jeddah Welfare Officer Maria Victoria Demengoy said on Monday that the special project, organized by Global Pinoy, aims to raise awareness about the life of an OFW who has sacrificed much to be away from his loved ones to be able to provide them a better life. The project targets OFWs who have not been home with their family in the Philippines for at least five years. Global Pinoy is an active non-governmental organization in the Philippines and one of OWWA's major sponsors for the 2012 Model OFW Family Awards. Demengoy said the project involves producing in time for the holiday season a video that will feature the story of an OFW who has not seen his or her family for more than five years as well as a child that he or she has not seen since birth. Demengoy said the participant must be a male or female worker, preferably residing within Luzon area and available to travel to the Philippines for the filming of the video. Those who are interested should visit the OWWA Office at the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah and speak to administrator Ronald Reyes before Nov. 30.
