TABUK — He only wanted to make sure his wife was safe. A recently married 20-year-old man died after he fell from his sixth floor apartment while trying to get onto his flat's balcony to get to his wife, according to a report from Al-Madinah newspaper. The young man was climbing down a drainpipe trying to reach the balcony but the pipe gave way under his weight, causing him to lose control and fall. He hit steel bars that were lying around in a construction site. He died late at the hospital from his wounds, according to a spokesman of the Saudi Red Crescent in Taif who added the man suffered massive injuries. The spokesman for Tabuk Police said the young man came home early and knocked on the door, but his wife did not open up. Worried sick about her, he called the Civil Defense rescue teams. However, he did not wait for them and decided to get onto his apartment balcony from the roof. The spokesman added: “It was an accident and no foul play is suspected.” — SG
