SHAROURA – Abdullah Al-Sayaree has disowned his son Ali, one of the terrorists who were arrested a few days ago after a fatal shootout in Sharoura that claimed the lives of two young security officers. The father expressed his happiness that all terrorists, including his son Ali, involved in that operation were arrested by security officers and they would receive their just punishment. He said his son mingled with some men who were in Iraq and Afghanistan, men who were up to anything that is evil. They wanted to disrupt the security of this country and they adopted deviant and extremist thoughts that contradicted with the teachings of Islam. His son wanted to know what was going on in Iraq and Yemen. “They took advantage of his situation and brainwashed him. After meeting them several times, he had become very obedient to them and was ready to do anything they told him.” Ali was arrested with some men and put in prison. However, his father was happy when he knew that Ali enrolled in the rehabilitation program and that he would understand the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Ali stayed in prison for six years and when he was released, his father was glad. He told his father that he had become a righteous man and he had given up his deviant thoughts and the father believed him.
Ali was released from prison 20 days before the shootout. Ali's family threw a welcome party to him on his release from prison. Ali promised his father that he would never go back to the same evil path he took. The father advised his son to obey him and explained to him that Jihad becomes obligatory when the King calls for it and after one's parents agree that their son goes to Jihad. But Ali broke his promise and started seeing some men. He disgraced his family and caused him mother to be admitted to hospital when she heard that he was among the terrorists arrested recently. One night before his arrest, Ali came home at around 2.30 a.m., three hours before he and other terrorists engaged in a shootout with security officers. He pretended that he was going to bed, then left the house stealthily. The next day, his father called him several times but Ali's cell phone was switched off. Then, the news of the arrests came on TV. The family started searching for Ali everywhere but could not find him. The father realized that his son had to do with what happened in Sharoura that day. Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Mahya Al-Otaibi, commander of Border Guard, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that two cars the terrorists used in their attempt to flee the country were identified and security officers are investigating how the terrorist were able to rent these cars. One of the cars was rented in the name of the brother of terrorist suspect Bandar Al-Harbi, Maj. Gen. Al-Otaibi said. He said the terrorists left their car near the border and took off on foot around dawn trying to cross the border to Yemen. However, the infrared cameras identified them. Vigilant border guards closed in on them and arrested them before they could escape.
