AN international conference on Food Security in Dry Lands (FSDL) will be held in Doha, Qatar on Nov. 14-15, 2012 focusing on three thematic areas – food security, water – resource, demand and management – and responsible investment in farmlands. Dr. Turki Faisal Al Rasheed, Chairman of Golden Grass, Inc., will be joining a panel of decision makers, academics, scientists, and experts from food security, water management and agriculture, to discuss “Responsible and Sustainable Foreign Direct Investment in Land and Water Resources”. Al Rasheed will be making a presentation during a roundtable discussion about “Food Security in the Middle East and the role of private capital”. The conference is being held under the auspices of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Qatar National Food Security Program (QNFSP) Executive Chairman Fahad bin Mohammed Al Attiya. The presentation and discussions, which will be held at Qatar University, will include ministerial level dialogue, and at the end of conference there will be a Doha Declaration. Ten international organizations - World Bank, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), UNESCO, International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA), Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), Kings College London, Qatar Foundation (QF), Qatar University (QU), and Georgetown University Qatar are involved in the conference. — SG
