CAPE TOWN — Bryan Habana has won South African rugby's player of the year award for the third time after a try-scoring return to form for the Springboks in this year's Rugby Championship. The wing, who extended his Springbok record to 47 with a record-equaling seven tries in the southern hemisphere championship, beat international teammates Eben Etzebeth, Keegan Daniel, Pat Lambie and JP Pietersen to South Africa's top individual rugby award. Etzebeth won the young player of the year. Pietersen won the players' player of the year, while Sharks captain Daniel collected the Super 15 player award. — AP
