Saudi Gazette report

ABHA — The Prosecution and Investigation Commission (PIC) is currently investigating a case of a father who allegedly sexually molested his daughter in Asir.
The daughter was temporarily admitted to a shelter home for girls pending the investigations.
According to Al-Watan daily, initial medical examinations showed the girl was sexually assaulted.
Official spokesman for Asir police, Abdullah Al-Dafran, told the daily that they received a complaint from the mother and her daughter about the father, who is said to be a drug addict. He was immediately arrested and transferred to the PIC for questioning.
Hadi Al-Yami, supervisor of the Baha branch of the Human Rights Commission, said the commission would review the case with the daughter and her mother and ensure they are given every protection.
They will also seek help from the social security department to see what type of help they will provide to the victims in this case. The commission will also demand police protection for the victims.
The mother of the victim said her daughter was transferred to the shelter home after the medical examination. She will remain there until the investigation is concluded.
The mother said: “I have eight children, five boys and three daughters. One of the girls, who is 18, is handicapped. Her younger sister, 16, was the one attacked by her father.
“I was constantly fighting with my husband because he insisted on taking drugs inside the house. I reported him to the police and he was arrested and jailed for six months.
“After he was released, he began abusing us in a different way. This time he was beating us all, even my handicapped daughter.”
She said six months ago he took her children from her except one of her young sons and the handicapped daughter.
“My daughter kept telling me her father was sexually harassing her. I did not believe her at first,” she said.
“He continued attacking her in front of my children. He did not care about her crying and screaming. She then managed to escape and went to the police and reported him. He was arrested late last week and put in jail.”
She said some of her relatives are trying put pressure on her to drop the case against her husband.
