JEDDAH — RSTP HMX team cruised to its maiden win when it over-powered team Fuchs 3-1. Likewise, Zuhair Fayez had identical scores as it downed team Murcia-MTC in category MMX at the tennis courts of Hotel Al-Bilad here recently. Over at the Sheraton Hotel courts, team Uricane showed why it was the last conference Category C champion when it drubbed team TAC 4-0 as the 4th Al Baik Team Tennis Tournament completed its second week of hostilities. Red Sea Tennis Players' (RSTP) HMX team had a shaky start as its pair of Vooch Maniri/Fred Masangkay lost 2-8 in the 1st set to Fuchs' Renz Lacsina/Sandy Dalit. In the 2nd set singles, RSTP's Khoja over-powered Voonsit Terepol 8-4 to tie the score at 1-1. In the 3rd set, Jun Ouano/Carmelo Nery beat Jovy Abella/Eloy Torres 8-5 to put RSTP ahead 2-1. In the 4th set, RSTP captain Randy Martin paired with Juvy Tagudin and made sure of the win as they downed Yoon/Kim Sung 8-2 to cap the match with a 3-1 scorecard. In another match, Zuhair Fayez MMX team had the night cut out for them as they went 3-0 in the match with Obet Tumale/Rey Tablang winning the 1st set 8-3 over Loi Escabusa/Robert Rayos of team Murcia-MTC. This was followed by Dante/Cats Catalan's 8-6 win over Chris Dacer/Erwin Pangan in the second set. Not to be outdone, Leo Perez/Dario Palon coasted to an 8-3 win over Uly Bartolata/Conrad Matias to secure the match with a 3-0 scorecard. In the 4th set, Jun Atienza/Dennis Cruz bowed down to the higher ranked pairing of Ben Briola/Fred Masangkay at 5-8 to post a match tally of 3-1. At the Sheraton Hotel tennis courts, last conference Category C champion Uricane steamrolled past TAC 4-0. Starting out strong with Boy Castilio/Walid Batestil's 8-2 win over Edward/Herbert in the 1st set, followed by Nelson/Ronnie Organo's 8-5 win over Mansoor/Armand, team Uricane was poised for the kill. Showing no mercy in the 3rd set, Ronald Mercado/Ramil Lorzano shut out all chances for TAC as they pounded Adan/Rico 8-1. With nothing to lose in the 4th set, Ricky Salazar/Geraldo Catalan completed the sweep with another 8-1 win over TAC's Kelly/Richard. In other results: Category C - Hitec-Hidada 2(27) beat Arabian Homes-APO 2(26); Category LMX - ABTC 3(26) beat Uricane 1(22), Hitec-Hidada 2(25) beat SPTC 2(21), DPWorld 3(28) beat TAC 1(19); and Category B2 - DPWorld 2(23) beat J & B 2(19).
