The Red Sea Tennis Players (RSTP) underlined their superiority by grabbing three out of the six titles of the 3rd Al-Baik Team Tennis Tournament 2011. The other three championships were won by JBTP (Jeddah Base Tennis Players), team UCB of Ulysses c. Bartolata and Toyota's DJ Auto Parts. In a festive mood, RSTP played on the last day of the championship in two categories – Category C team was up against Friday Bulls on court 4 while its category MMX fought it out with NCB. Both matches were stretched to the full as the fourth and last set was the deciding set for both. In Category C, RSTP started with a win, courtesy of Ramzi Ali/Edward Tugade scoring an 8-6 win over Andy Rentoy/Ruel Manara. In the second set, Friday Bull's Lito Castor/Cliff Castaneda mauled Joel Quimpo/August Talavera into submission with an 8-2 victory to tie the score at 1-1 sets each. The win in the third set by RSTP's Zaldy Ramos/Jonathan Contreras via a tie-break against FB's team captain Ed Belen and Ramil Ramos, placed them in the lead at 2-1. Although leading on sets, RSTP was not assured of the championship as its total points were three less than Friday Bulls. The crucial fourth set became a winner take all, as a win by the Bulls shall earn them a lead of four points, enough to bag the championship. Responding with pressure, Champ Nur/Cris Balles subdued FB's Edgar Magbanua/Vivencio Abcede at a punishing 8-2 for the win and the championship. The same pattern followed in the Category MMX RSTP and NCB tied the match at 2-2 set each and the former won title on points 24-19. Likewise, RSTP also was successful earlier in its campaign against Toyota-ALJACS in the LMX category. Organized and managed by the Association of Tennis Clubs, Jeddah (ASTEC), this tournament is in partnership with Al-Baik Broast Chicken as the major sponsor. Supporting the event is Deltaz Marketing/Prince.
