Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH – Saudi Channel 2 has launched a totally new plan to telecast the rituals of Haj with the cooperation of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. For the first time, the channel is telecasting its Haj coverage in several foreign languages, including French, Indonesian, Turkish and Urdu, in addition to English. The channel has divided its Haj coverage into various segments. Under the theme of “To Makkah”, viewers all over the world could watch the pilgrim making preparations for the journey. From the first day of the month of Dhul Hijjah, the channel is devoting most of the airtime for programs about Haj. “Future Generations” is meant to educate the youth on the importance of this obligatory pilgrimage and teach them the correct way of performing each ritual following in the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions. The morning program, “Kingdom's Morning,” is about preparations for receiving the pilgrims. Dr. Mahmud Morad, through his daily program “Path of Guidance”, will talk about the significance of Haj rites, rules and conditions. The channel will also telecast cultural programs on the occasion in cooperation with the relevant authorities, such as the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Haj and the Ministry of Health. “Serving the Pilgrims” is a segment that reflects the services provided to pilgrims. “With the Pilgrims” speaks about the feelings of the pilgrims, and “On Phone” will air phone calls with Muslims all over the world talking about the occasion. “The Guests of Allah,” which is transmitted from studios in Riyadh, Mina and Arafat, will speak about the projects being carried out by the state at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah. Channel 2 General Director Obaidullah Al-Obaidullah confirmed the keenness of the Saudi TV to transmit this great occasion in order to reach all Muslims inside and abroad through various languages.
