Syeda Amtul Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — An Indian social group, Telugu Kalaakshetram, organized its 5th blood donation campaign at King Fahd Medical City in the capital, recently. About 160 donors participated in the event with zeal and passion. Telugu Kalaakshetram, representing a section of people from the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, has regularly organized many social service activities during the past eight years. It has a reputation of taking a lead role among the Indian community in Riyadh in organizing events beneficial to the community. Venu Madhav, president of the organization, said it was commendable to note that about 160 people lined up with enthusiasm and fervor to discharge an essential part of their social responsibility. “During the past eight years our organization has carried out an awareness campaign to motivate people to donate blood,” he said. Abdullah Reddy, in charge Rabwa Dawah Center, and a donor, said: “It's a noble cause and we all should participate in it for the benefit of humanity.” Telugu Kalaakshetram's executive body commended the youth who donated blood. Several participants also took a pledge to continue donating blood in future. Mai Al-Meshari, Director of Bllod Bank in King Fahd Medical City, applauded the dedication of Telugu Kalaakshetram in organizing blood donation camp every year. He added that the services of such organizations are essential to save critical lives.
