RIYADH — Six developers have endorsed recently the Linksys Developer Community, a program for developers to create apps for the new Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers.
The new community is part of the Cisco Developer Network – a vibrant community that unites Cisco with third-party developers of hardware and software to deliver tested interoperable solutions to joint customers.
The six developers are also publishing apps built for Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers.
Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers are powered by a unique cloud-based architecture that can be leveraged by developers as they create apps for any consumer electronic device. The community is designed to make the development of apps simple with an easy to use software developer kit (SDK), quick tutorials and sample code.
“We are on the cusp of a major transformation in the home where the network can enable experiences that consumers never dreamed possible. The sky is the limit for developers with our new software platform and Linksys Developer Community," said Vikas Butaney, director of product management for Cisco Home Networking. “From simple experiences allowing consumers to manage their home remotely to complex solutions, developers can benefit by creating value-added solutions for consumers", he added. Several early developers have validated the Linksys Developer Community platform by using the SDK and tools from Cisco to simplify and accelerate app development. This has resulted in the first six apps developed by Axentra Corporation, Fresh Consulting LLC, Gemini Solutions Inc., PacketVideo Corporation, Stratedge Adroitent J.V. and Xoriant Corporation. These initial apps enable new experiences such as simple one click device connectivity, access control and media sharing. The initial apps are just the beginning of many new experiences the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers will enable within the community.
The Linksys Developer Community allows developers to create applications and services that use Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers (EA-Series products) together with the Cisco Connect Cloud to give consumers new experiences at home and on the go.
With Cisco's unique cloud-based architecture, developers can create applications for any consumer electronic device using simple web services calls to communicate with the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers through the cloud. It's easy and fast to develop great services and apps that reach millions of consumers through various online stores. See videos about developers who are currently creating apps.

Interested developers are invited to visit the Linksys Developer Community at http://developer.cisco.com/web/ldc to register and develop apps for Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers. Cisco empowers developers with technical, marketing, and sales resources to help support every phase of their developmental and business cycles.
Cisco, the pioneer in home networking, has sold more than 70 million Linksys routers worldwide and is leading the charge in the next-generation connected home. – SG
